Earthquake in JAPAN

Researchers in TOKYO triggered an artificial earthquake on a mountain in Japan to find the signs of volcanic eruptions.
This mountain is named as Mount Zao, which is 1841 meters high and active due to an earthquake since  March 2011, with increased volcanic tremors.

A team of researchers from Tohoku university, together with meteorological officials, conducted a new survey of the volcano.
They used 200 kg of dynamite inside a 40-meter deep hole dug on mountain side.

seismic waves generated from the blast is measured about 150 seismometers, which also swiped out water from the hole.
As seismic waves travel slowly through water, it helps the researchers to find out pools and pathways of hot water up to about 2 km underground.
Finding the location of hot water is a key to guess, where the next stream-blast explosion could occur.
